Amanda and Andrew met me at the DC War Memorial to kick off their Washington DC Engagement session. They are getting married in Baltimore later this year. But, they currently reside in Washington DC and we wanted to incorporate that into their photos. Part of their story has been based in DC as they prepare for their wedding, so we definitely wanted to showcase that– plus, you can’t get more classic than an engagement session at the War Memorial or monuments in DC.
The DC war memorial is such a great alternative to the busy memorials. If you want a more private engagement session, this is your place. You still get that beautiful, classic DC feel, without there being 8 million people in the background. It really is such a beautiful backdrop.
I absolutely looooove when clients go formal for their engagement photos. Your engagement ends up being one of the shortest periods in your relationship, lets show that off by getting dressed up! Amanda stunned in this Rent the Runway, red dress and Andrew definitely complimented her by wearing a tux. I am so in love. Plus, how stunning is the red against all of the white marble in DC?! The best way to have a show-stopping Washington DC engagement session is to show up in stunning evening attire!
After the Washington DC War Memorial, we went over to The Jefferson Memorial. The Jefferson Memorial & the Lincoln Memorial have a very similar vibe, but honestly, I much prefer the Jefferson. There are way less people and the steps and pillars photograph much better due to being shaded from the sun! It creates such a neutral, clean look and the warmth of the sun reflects so nicely without being over powering. Amanda and Andrew seriously looked like models!
We then headed to Lincoln Park for a couple more casual photos. It was such a perfect way to end the afternoon! I cannot wait for their wedding!
