Have you ever been to a Dover Hall wedding? If not, you’re sorely missing out. Dover Hall is tucked in the Richmond area and is an absolutely stunning property. When Kyla Jeannette posted about workshop being held there, and my all time favorite photographer, Laura Gordon being the speaker, I had to attend.
Editorial wedding imagery absolutely has my heart. There’s something elegant and almost haunting about Dover Hall. It’s the perfect wedding venue to combine a love of traditional wedding images, while also being able to obtain those over the top, fine art editorial images.
One thing I will never quit doing, especially in my business, is learning. I think too often once you become a seasoned photographer, you get the sense that you don’t need to pursue education. I honestly think that is a fatal flaw. When you stop learning, you stop growing. And, when you stop growing, you stop pushing yourself. IF you don’t have drive in your business (and everyday life), what’s the point? So, we started the workshop off getting to see Laura Gordon in action, posing a model, talking about her love of film and workflow. It was so inspiring seeing, arguably, one of the most successful wedding photographers in the world doing what she loves.
The details of this Dover hall wedding shoot were absolutely amazing. Fresh florals, greenery instals, tablescapes, cakes, jewelry… it all came together to create an elegantly, fine art aesthetic. And, let me tell you. I am here for it!!
Kyla also planned a bridal boudoir portion of the day, and y’all, this may have been my favorite part. I’m going to stop talking now and let the images speak for themselves!
